Mal Thoughts is a frequent write-up of opinions/attacks/defenses on the latest episode of Based on Nothing from our dear friend Mallory. This week, she returns to write about “Season Premiere.”
- Sorry about lack of Mal Thoughts last week, but I had to sit around and talk with them for 3 hours for the last episode, so we decided to take a break. But don’t worry, I didn’t go writing for any other podcasts, me and BoN are strong enough to get through the distance.
- Spenser’s acting is terrible, I can’t tell if it’s part of the gimmick to make it seem like a cheesy sitcom, or if he’s just that bad.
- The laugh track should’ve been inserted when Jacob said “We have a lot of listeners.”
- I’ve kinda been in a creative stall as well, and you guys help push me out of it.
- Aww Jacob’s mom is a listener? That’s adorable. I want to know what she thinks of me.
- I won’t add my parents on facebook, but me and my mom follow each other on twitter! And she has over fifteen times more followers than me.
- I think the last time I posted anything on my own facebook was a link to the last episode of BoN, true story. Shameless self promotion.
- Your brief mention of Cougar Town reminds me you should take a page from Abed’s book and actually watch it. There’s a reason it’s his favorite show.
- Oh god I remember that status of the awesome things that start with “J” and epic doesn’t even begin to describe it. Well it does, but just barely.
- OK I kinda wish I was a guest for the third time in a row because judging talking about television is kind of my thing. I guess that’s why you had me on the Emmy episode. Shut up.
- Am I the only one who thinks Jacob saying no woman will satisfy him like Community is an incredibly attractive quality? Just me?
- I feel like it should be differentiated that while Community is fantastic and BoN’s personal favorite comedy, Parks and Rec is the best comedy on television.
- I hope there are more episodes like Troy’s Birthday episode from Season 2. Listening to the commentaries recently they say that episode was one that no one liked because it “wasn’t funny” but I think it found a way to be hilarious while still delving into some dark parts of exploring these characters. I mean come on, Britta and Jeff making fun of each others favorite bar and it turns out it’s the same one? That’s just funny. Add in the character evolution as it helps Troy to realize that these people he looks up to as adults, are really just like him? That is just great TV.
- Leslie Knope should be your wonderful person of the week. I mean Ron Swanson is a hell of a fictional man, but Leslie understands the proper way to react when someone gives you food shaped like the first letter of your name.
- I like the New Girl! It’s cute and has potential. I mean it’s Zooey Deshannel being Zooey Deshanel. It’s harmless and amusing.
- Hawaii Five-0 has the Chairman from Iron Chef America as the bad guy, enough reason alone for me to tune in every once in a while. I wish he’d do more back flips.
- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been renewed for at least 2 more seasons already.
- The whole point of Person of Interest is that it’s a procedural! But so far it’s a good one, and one that stands apart from the rest of the procedurals that pollute CBS.
- Up All Night is my favorite new show. The second episode was great, I love the chemistry between Christina and Will.
- I love Neighborhoods, but man I wish one of you hated it so we could have a good argument to listen to.
- I like the slight way you blatantly promote your friend’s band.
- This “Personal Stories” segment is my worst nightmare. We have a great casual thing going on boys, why would you want to ruin that? We meet up once a week, exchange opinions on pop culture and current events, part our ways and go on with our separate lives. Now I’ll have to remember your birthdays and pretend to care when you have emotions. This podcast/listener relationship is getting a little too serious for my taste.
- Wasp vs Spider > Fake accent girl.
- Jacob just ruined this being one of your better episodes by pointing out that this is one of your better episodes.
