Wonderful Person of the Week: Andrew McMahon
In the last episode of Based on Nothing, we said that Andrew McMahon was our Wonderful Person and my, oh my is he. McMahon is one of the few people I would list in a Wonderful People of My Life post.McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia during the summer of 2005, months before the first album of Jack’s Mannequin was released. Everything in Transit became the perfect fall album that sat with everyone’s thoughts as their school semesters began. He fortunately survived through his battle with cancer and created another album titled The Glass Passenger in 2008, and now he comes back into the airwaves with his new album People and Things. If anyone has had the privilege of meeting him at shows or at some other place, you’ll know that he is one of the kindest people in the music industry today. Selling out concerts and headlining festivals hasn’t changed his view of the audience that’s been following him since the early days of Something Corporate. He is quite the inspiration.
I’ve been such a fan of Andrew McMahon’s music in Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin since I was ten years old. It’s amazing to think that this man has continually made music for my ears to hear as I grew up in the various stages of life. I can only hope he keeps going on.You can buy Jack’s Mannequin’s new album here.Written by Spenser.
