Wonderful Person of the Week: Han Solo
Totally not influenced by the particular day this is being posted, Han Solo is a great man, a nice man. Star Wars certainly wouldn’t be Star Wars without him and he has been a role model for scoundrels and boys everywhere, better Han than anyone else, right? Don’t everyone thank him at once.
As I did say so before, Han Solo is a great role model for boys, but he is also pretty dreamy for girls to think about and that’s the real trick isn’t it? He’s certainly got his moments and he’s not scruffy looking, so Han Solo is a person for all. I recently did a study and it shows that 1 in every 3,720 people don’t like Han Solo, so those odds are pretty good, though you should never tell him the odds (you can’t anyway cause he’s a fictional character, but that’s not his fault).
Han Solo is one of the most memorable characters in all of film. Unfortunately he got a little shafted in Return of the Jedi and didn’t really have any great things to do in that movie, his presence still counted for something though cause of how awesome he is. With no real time to discuss this as a committee, Based on Nothing is proud to say that Han Solo isn’t going anywhere without the (fictional!) Wonderful Person Award. May the 4th be with you and don’t get cocky.

Wonderful Person of the Week: Dr Pepper Just so we’re on the same page, Dr Pepper is not a person…it’s a beverage. But! It was frequently said in this week’s podcast so that’s why Dr Pepper is the Wonderful Person Beverage of the Week.Personally not being a fan of soda, I will write about how Dr Pepper is not a real doctor but still performs surgery through people’s mouths and stomachs with 23 flavors! Dr Pepper isn’t a real doctor because it does not have a period after the “Dr” part. Isn’t that crazy? The makers probably did this because 1. Lawsuit and 2. Who cares? There’s not much else to write about Dr Pepper so… how about you listen to The Great American Novel who were great guests on the latest podcast titled “Dr Pepper.” Have a nice week!

Wonderful Person of the Week: Tina FeyBeing one of my favorite people in the world and the first real female Wonderful Person (the other being Janice from Friends), Tina Fey has inspired many to believe in  themselves. She has also reminded America that women can be funny too.Last year Ms. Fey’s book “Bossypants” was released with critical acclaim. She took stories from her life and told them as life lessons for who she is today: the creator, writer, and star of NBC’s 30 Rock. 30 Rock is in its sixth season, which is a surprise to Fey because of how wacky and totally unconventional the show is. Many believe this will be the last season.Without Tina Fey, Based on Nothing probably wouldn’t exist. I remember watching her telling me the news (or lack there of) on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” and just being in awe with the amount of intelligence and comedy she brought. Little 11 year old me was caught in her aura of awesomeness. These are just a few reasons why Tina Fey is our Wonderful Person of the Week.

Wonderful Person of the Week: Jesse Lacey
Last week we stated in episode 27 that Jesse Lacey was our Wonderful Person of the Week. So in reality, this should be called the Wonderful Person of LAST Week, but whatever.Jesse Lacey is the frontman of the magnificent band Brand New. Being a favorite band from everyone here at Based on Nothing (except Mal, I think. She’s the worst), Lacey was an easy person to pick. During New Year’s Eve, Jacob had the pleasure to see Brand New play three sets all that night, leading into 2012. Brand New played their classic song “Soco Amaretto Lime” into the new year, and Jacob probably started crying because then he realized, despite what the lyrics to the song say, he’s not going to be 18 forever…because he’s already 19.Despite this awesome idea for a New Year’s Eve show, Brand New and Jesse Lacey mainly still get a bad reputation for not being on Twitter like bands like The Maine and constantly giving updates on what’s happening with band. I personally don’t agree with this because who cares? They’ll give us music when they can, but a lot of people don’t agree with me :(So let this be an Ode to the Lace and we here by recognize him as a wonderful person.

Wonderful Person of the Week: Janice (from Friends)
Oh. My. God. In episode 25, Jacob and Spenser said that they’d use Janice as a Wonderful Person if there were no wonderful people to name. That dream has now come true this week. Janice is one of the most loved and hated reoccurring characters in any sitcom. She was annoying, needy, unfaithful, and liked to make up nicknames for Chandler “My Bingaling.” Played perfectly by Maggie Wheeler, Janice appeared in every season of Friends and stole every scene she was in. Her nasally New York accent and her goddamn laugh were the essence of many jokes. Once, Chandler wanted to get rid of Janice so bad that he had the plan to lie to her that he was moving. Of course it backfired, and he lied about moving to the country of Yemen the next day. She drove him to the airport, and he actually had to go to Yemen.
Janice was favorited by none of the Friends but many fans adored her stir-the-pot attitude. She’s wonderful because she makes us miss Friends.
